Estimation was created within a three day residency with Sophie Northmore in February 2017 at Tr2, Pymouth,
The process explored the notion of risk taking, compromise and personal value in relation to a project that she is currently researching. Sophie wanted to make this process as accessible as possible and encouraged the co-creation of the work with biographical material and an open and relaxed studio.
Sophie’s training began in acrobatics and followed on into dancing, taking a Foundation Degree at The London Studio Centre and a BA (Hons) Degree at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of music and dance. She is currently working in Plymouth on a Freelance basis for the Theatre Royal Plymouth, Far Flung Dance Theatre, Exim Dance Company and is excited to be choreographing for Spin Drift this year,
Since then the work has steadily evolved and will continue to develop with the cast of 6 SpinDrift dancers as Sophie explores her initial ideas and digs deeper into the work to root out the psychological research and anecdotes in collaboration with local collaborators.
Estimation explores individual values: how we work to maintain them and take risks to regain these whilst in relationship to others.
